Approximately 703,000 requests for heating compensation during the cold season have been submitted to the authorities. The actual number of beneficiaries could exceed 1.4 million people. They will receive between 300 and 800 lei for November, with the compensation applied individually based on each household’s characteristics and income.
More than 300,000 people requested assistance to purchase solid fuel in November. Over 200,000 requested help for gas, 135,000 for thermal energy, and about 28,000 for electricity, as noted by the Minister of Social Protection, Alexei Buzu.
The authorities have promised that once the compensation amounts are set, citizens will not pay more for heating than last year. The compensation will be applied based on last year’s payment values and the current tariffs. The first payments are expected to be made in mid-December.

“When we develop the formula for determining the compensation, we look at how the compensation is distributed and ensure that after citizens benefit from compensation, they will not pay a post-compensation rate higher than last year. This year, we will have tariff increases. We will examine the impact on compensation and apply it every month when the tariffs are set,” explained Buzu.
In this context, the Minister urged the population to conserve energy resources. Additionally, Alexei Buzu mentioned that the authorities are set to approve the regulation for compensation for November, and officials are still verifying the data provided by the households that applied for assistance.
