The United States of America “has been a resilient ally for a very long time” to the Republic of Moldova, and our country values this partnership and will continue working to maintain it. It was President Maia Sandu’s statement when asked at an event, where the President of the European Council was also present, whether U.S. President Donald Trump is now an ally of Moldova.
“The United States has been a solid ally for a long time. We are talking about pivotal projects, including those we are discussing today. The U.S. has indeed been a great help to us.
I don’t want to go into all the details, but I will mention the wine sector. After Russia imposed multiple embargoes on our wines, USAID stepped in to support Moldovan winemaking companies. They helped create alliances and partnerships, encouraging them to learn from one another. They taught us how to implement new technologies and improve the quality of our wines. They trained winemaking companies on how to enter foreign markets and expand into new ones. We have had, and continue to have, thousands of important projects aimed at strengthening our democracy and institutions. We profoundly appreciate this partnership and will continue working hard to maintain it,” said Maia Sandu.
