(VIDEO) Moldovans will benefit from compensations this year as well. Alexei Buzu provides information on the topic

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection has not yet finalized the compensation program for the cold season of 2024-2025; however, Moldovan citizens will receive support from the Government. This assurance comes from Minister Alexei Buzu. The official stated that he will provide more details in November, as work on the project is still ongoing.

“And this year, the Government will stand by the Moldovans. We will help them get through the cold season. We are in the process of finalizing all the technical aspects, including those related to prices. As you have seen, gas prices have changed; they are now cheaper.

So, we are making these adjustments because this program targets many households and families in our Republic. I ask for patience, and I will communicate all the specific details when we clarify them in the final stage.

If you look at how I communicated last year, all the details were finalized and shared with the citizens in November. What will happen is that citizens who wish to benefit from compensation will register, as they do every year, on the government portal compensații.gov.md. Depending on their income, family members, and other characteristics, we will determine—or the system will determine—the amount of compensation that will benefit all citizens who register and are entitled to it. In the last two challenging years, we have demonstrated that we can mobilize the technical capacity and the necessary resources to help families in Moldova get through the cold season.

When we clarify all these aspects, we will communicate them and seek your support to reach as many citizens as possible. I do not want to discuss technical details that are not yet 100% finalized. But once again, I want to reiterate that citizens will benefit from compensation and support from the Government this year as well,” concluded Minister Buzu.

We remind you that in the winter of 2023-2024, there were seven categories of energy vulnerability, and over 750,000 households in the Republic of Moldova received compensation for electricity, thermal energy, and natural gas. Those who used wood or coal for heating received state assistance amounting to 800 lei.
