The minimum wage for 2027 has not yet been established, and the Government is expected to begin negotiations with trade unions and employers’ organizations in the autumn. Minister of Labor and Social Protection Natalia Plugaru said that the authorities’ goal is to ensure a gradual and predictable increase in the minimum wage, reaching 10,000 lei by 2030.
“We are not yet in a situation where we have a decision regarding the minimum wage for next year, but we will begin negotiations in the autumn together with trade unions and employers on this issue,” Plugaru said after the Government meeting on July 22.
According to the minister, the increase in the minimum wage should take place gradually so that it reaches 10,000 lei by 2030. Asked whether the increase could be offset by rising prices and inflation, Natalia Plugaru said that the Government’s objective is for the minimum wage to remain a real benchmark for employees.
“We want the minimum wage to serve as a reference point. It is a guaranteed minimum wage… We want Moldova to offer competitive salaries for working people that respond both to labor market needs and to price levels,” the minister said.
The National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova previously requested that the minimum wage for 2027 be established in advance and proposed increasing it to approximately 8,700 lei.
Currently, the national gross minimum wage is 6,300 lei per month. This amount entered into force on January 1, 2026, and applies to a full-time work schedule of 169 hours per month, equivalent to 37.27 lei per hour.
