(VIDEO) Olesea Stamate and Andrei Nastase to Run as Independents in September Parliamentary Elections

On July 20, Olesea Stamate and Andrei Nastase announced their independent candidacies for Moldova’s snap parliamentary elections scheduled for September 28, 2025.

Stamate, a former PAS member and Chair of the Legal Committee, stated that she rejected offers from other parties and chose “the hardest but the right path.” She criticized the current political class for using European values and justice reform “as a facade,” and pledged to promote integrity, morality, and respect for citizens.

Stamate submitted her documents to the Central Electoral Commission and launched an initiative group to collect the necessary signatures. She also revealed plans to found a new political movement based on European, moral, and Christian values.

Nastase, former Minister of Internal Affairs and ex-leader of the Dignity and Truth Platform, announced his candidacy through a social media video.

He said he represents voters disillusioned with existing parties and aims to provide “a real alternative.” Accompanied by supporters, Nastase promised to campaign for citizens “lied to with slogans and humiliated by crooked laws.”
