On Sunday, April 27, the Roma community hosted a grand banquet at the cemetery. They served seafood, expensive alcohol, canned beer, an oven full of pies, and enough meat to cater a wedding. Additionally, a waiter was seen arranging the tables and serving the guests, as reported by cancan.md.
Internet users jokingly asked, “Where are the bride and groom?” because the event looked like a wedding.
Meanwhile, Petru Storoja, the parish priest of Saint Hierarch Nicholas Church, stated that eating and drinking at gravesites are pagan traditions and not the proper way to honor the dead. He made these comments during Aura’s podcast, “DEZminte.”
