The National Army is expanding, and Moldova will add 2,000 soldiers, according to Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii.
The minister said the strategy approved in October 2025 provides for this measure, and authorities will implement the increase gradually.
“The Military Strategy approved in October last year sets out the planned increase in the number of soldiers in the National Army. This step is necessary to ensure a military structure capable of fulfilling its missions. The strategy sets a target of 8,500 soldiers and 2,000 civilian employees. We will carry out this process gradually,” Nosatii explained.
According to the minister, the National Army currently employs 6,500 soldiers and 2,000 civilian staff.
