Vladimir Voronin, leader of the Communist Party of Moldova, made explosive revelations during TV8’s program “Новая неделя.” He stated that the infamous “kuliok” (plastic bag) handed by Vladimir Plahotniuc to former president Igor Dodon contained €860,000.
“€860,000. Yes, I know the exact amount. Plahotniuc sent this money to Dodon. He was even indignant that someone had ‘stolen’ €140,000. He said to his people: I know for a fact I put €1 million there. Plahotniuc personally told me this. I have already given statements to the anti-corruption prosecutors,” Voronin said.

The so-called “Kuliok case” was opened in spring 2020 and reached court in 2022. Prosecutors accuse Dodon of having solicited nearly $1 million from oligarch Vladimir Plahotniuc and his associate Serghei Iaralov.
The leader of the PSRM, Igor Dodon, commented after his electoral bloc partner, Vladimir Voronin, claimed that the infamous “kuliok” contained €860,000.
Dodon called it a provocation by the government targeting a pro-ruling-party TV channel, aimed at creating divisions within the bloc.
“Our position is clear: we will hold a discussion within the bloc to clarify this matter. I believe this interview played on some of Mr. Voronin’s emotions, perhaps due to his age. We will discuss it and move forward together,” Dodon said.
Regarding the case, Dodon noted that it is currently in court and that Voronin has not been summoned as a witness.
