“We are near and wish peace”: Moldovan leaders sent congratulations to the people of Ukraine

On August 24, Ukraine celebrates the 32nd anniversary of its independence. This holiday is so important at this time because today, as many years ago, Ukrainians are fighting for independence with arms in their hands. Moldovan leaders sent congratulations to the people of Ukraine.

Moldovan Foreign and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has congratulated the people of the neighboring country on a very important holiday for them.

“Today is an important day for our Ukrainian friends – Independence Day. It is a truly symbolic holiday, especially against the background of the unjust war that Russia is waging against Ukraine and posing a threat to its independence and territorial integrity. On this day, we express and reaffirm our unwavering support and commitment to the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. The Republic of Moldova is today out of any military danger thanks to the courage and resilience of the Ukrainian army, for which we are grateful. We will continue to provide Ukraine with all possible assistance, both bilaterally and within the framework of international organizations. We want our neighbors and friends to know that we are near and wish them peace and prosperity,” – Popescu wrote.

“For more than 500 days, the Ukrainian people have defended their freedom and independence with determination and dignity. Today, on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, I would like to convey to our friends and neighbors that the Republic of Moldova will stand by Ukraine and its brave people until victory is on their side,” Igor Grosu, Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament, said.

“On Ukraine’s Independence Day, we honor the resilience and steadfast spirit of the Ukrainian people, who for eighteen months have been courageously fighting against Russia’s brutal aggression.

Ukrainians are defending not only their freedom. They are also defending us and the future of Europe. Thirty-two years after independence, Ukraine’s strength is in its people, in their courage, strength, and hope for a peaceful and prosperous future in a united Europe. Our future is a shared one in the great European family. Our country is and will be with Ukraine until victory,” the Prime Minister of Moldova, Dorin Recean, said.
