On October 1, 2024, in Chisinau, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, met with the French ambassador, Dominique Waag, who recently began her work in the Republic of Moldova.
During the discussions, Mihai Popsoi praised the dynamism and intensity of Moldovan-French bilateral relations, which reflect multiple bilateral visits, partnerships, and projects in strategic sectors of the national economy. He highlighted the outcomes of the ministerial conference of the Partnership Platform for Moldova and the visit of the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Stéphane Séjourné, to Chisinau.
Additionally, the two officials discussed Moldova’s European path and noted France’s consistent support. They emphasized the importance of the intergovernmental conference for opening accession negotiations as a crucial step for Moldova’s EU accession.

At the same time, the discussions focused on ways to intensify trade and economic cooperation and attract French investors to Moldova. Other topics included strengthening cooperation and establishing partnerships between educational institutions, as well as joint efforts to combat disinformation and fake news.
Moreover, the two officials exchanged views on the regional and international situation, discussing developments in both countries, including the appointment of the new government in France and the elections and referendum in Moldova.
