Why can’t Vadim Krasnoselski be arrested? Explanations from the Government

Vadim Krasnoselski cannot be arrested under the so-called “law of separatism” because he is involved in reintegration negotiations. Oleg Serebrian stated on RLIVE TV that such a decision could escalate tensions.

Serebrian emphasized that Vadim Krasnoselski holds citizenship in Russia and Ukraine and used Russian Federation documents for his trip to Moscow. He warned that arresting the separatist leader could have serious consequences for Moldova’s constitutional authorities.

“It is not impossible, but we must consider the consequences. Should we create such a situation? I don’t think so. They would claim that Chisinau is creating a conflict. That would be a problem. We aim to demonstrate that Chisinau is not an obstacle to solving the problem. Whether we succeeded, I don’t know. The question is if they believe us in Tiraspol, Bender, or Moscow—that Chisinau is not blocking gas supplies or the ability for people to live normally,” Serebrian explained on the program “Territory of Freedom” with Lilia Burakovski.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean explained earlier to the press that authorities decided not to detain the Transnistrian official because they focused on protecting citizens, including those on the left bank of the Dniester. According to the head of the government, the constitutional administration respects the Transnistrian conflict settlement framework. It is concerned about the well-being of people on both sides of the Dniester.
