The National Police of Moldova submitted a request to Interpol to place former head of the General Police Inspectorate Alexandru Pinzari and former head of Directorate 5 Valeriu Cojocaru on the international wanted list. Authorities sentenced both to three years in prison in the fictitious employment case.
Police representatives told IPN that they sent the document packages to Interpol headquarters. Interpol will review the requests and later inform Chisinau of its decision.
On January 19, 2026, the court sentenced Dorin Damir, Alexandru Pinzari, and Valeriu Cojocaru. The rulings remain subject to appeal. The court ordered their detention and placement in pretrial custody until a final decision is issued.
According to the National Police, officers handcuffed Dorin Damir shortly after the court announced the sentence. Police could not locate Alexandru Pinzari and Valeriu Cojocaru.
Valeriu Cojocaru posted a message on social media calling the sentence politically motivated and said he would appeal to embassies accredited in Moldova and to European states. Preliminary information indicates that he is currently in Hungary.
Previously, Alexandru Pinzari told journalists that he was in the Republic of Moldova.
