From November 6-9, employees, lawmakers, and Parliament Secretary General Igor Talmazan visited the German Bundestag and several state institutions in Berlin to gather insights for drafting a lobbying bill.
The parliament’s communication and public relations department reported that the delegation held discussions with German MPs, Bundestag officials, and representatives from academia, civil society, and Berlin’s state institutions to learn how Germany ensures transparency in representing interests in its legislative process.
They focused on key topics such as the Lobby Register, regulation of big business and non-economic interest groups’ influence on legislation, the work of Bundestag inquiry committees, and the Bundestag members’ Code of Conduct.
During the visit, Talmazan met with Bundestag Secretary General Michael Schäfer to discuss best practices and share expertise between their institutions.
