Moldovan authorities recorded 54 criminal cases involving 141 foreign nationals between 1 January and 31 May 2026, according to information obtained by Realitatea.
Among the most common offences were the organisation of illegal migration, cyber fraud schemes and influence peddling.
The data does not include statistics on the number of suspects. Under Moldova’s law on the Integrated Automated Information System for Crime Registration, suspects are not recorded in the country’s Criminalistic and Criminological Information Register.
Separately, between 1 January and 15 June, Moldovan authorities expelled 104 foreign nationals for violating residence regulations. The largest numbers of those expelled were citizens of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Official figures also show that from the beginning of the year through 31 May, Moldova granted permanent residence permits to 113 foreign nationals, while 3,760 people received work permits.
The statistics highlight both ongoing migration-related challenges and the continued inflow of foreign workers into the Moldovan labour market.
