19 athletes will represent the Republic of Moldova at the World Youth Wrestling Championship

The team of 19 athletes will represent the Republic of Moldova at the World Youth Wrestling Championship. It will be held in Jordan from 14 to 20 August 2023.

The female part of the team consisting of five athletes will perform under the guidance of coach Andrey Kiper. Eight wrestlers will take part in the freestyle wrestling. Their coaches are Maxim Gilca and Ilya Esin. In Greco-Roman wrestling Moldova will be represented by six wrestlers, who coach Roman Zgardan will assist.

The State Secretary of the Ministry of Education responsible for sports, Sergiu Gurin, who was present at the last training before the competition, noted that every international tournament is an opportunity for our athletes to show the world what dedication, passion, and talent mean.

“We are proud of each of you and wish you success in Jordan. Fight and return home with victory,” the official said.

The Ministry of Education specified that the youth wrestling world championship will bring more than 400 participants.
