Good news! Moldova won six medals at the European Youth Boxing Championships

The national boxing team secured six medals at the European Cadet Championships held in Bosnia and Herzegovina, earning 6th place in the final national rankings with two gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.

Two Moldovan boxers claimed the title of continental champions. Egor Certicovtev from Tiraspol won the gold medal (in the 42 kg weight category) by defeating England’s Hussein Azaan in the final. Andrei Timoshcov from Chisinau also took gold in the 60 kg category, overcoming Azerbaijan’s Nurlan Myceibli in the championship.

Alexandru-Ahile Buhaniuc from Orhei earned the title of European vice-champion in the under-50 kg category, while three other Moldovan boxers reached the podium in their respective weight classes. Nichita Slepoi (40 kg, Tiraspol), Tudor Stratan (44 kg, Chisinau), and Alexandru Bujor (70 kg, Chisinau) each won bronze medals.

The Ministry of Education and Research reported that five other Moldovan boxers advanced to the quarter-finals and finished in fifth place. These athletes are Ivan Basciavanji (63 kg) from Comrat, Pavel Raducan (66 kg) from Chisinau, Vladislav Zigo (80 kg), Elizaveta Ignatova (57 kg), and Daria Gritsco (64 kg), all three from Balti.

The European Boxing Championships took place in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, with 363 athletes from 30 countries competing.
