The State Flag of the Republic of Moldova represents the country’s sovereignty and independence. Citizens and foreigners on our territory must respect the flag and refrain from any act that offends this national symbol.
During solemn ceremonies, when authorities raise the State Flag, the audience stands. Men remove their hats to honor it, while military personnel of all ranks salute according to army regulations.
Moldovans proudly wear the flag on their backs at important events, carry it to protests and elections, and see their champions lift it at international competitions. The country marks the Day of the State Flag every year on April 27.
