Sandu: 80 Million Lei Invested in Rascani District Through European Village Program

The government invested 80 million lei in Moldova’s northern Rascani district through the first two editions of the European Village program. Authorities used the funds to renovate educational and medical institutions, modernize roads, and build public lighting and water supply networks.

President Maia Sandu met with mayors from Rascani to discuss the projects implemented and the current needs of local communities. She emphasized that the discussions focused on people’s priorities, including road infrastructure, access to potable water, agricultural challenges, and other local concerns.

“Through the European Village programs I and II alone, we invested nearly 80 million lei in the district,” said President Sandu. “We extended water supply networks in Costesti, Pociumbeni, and Dumeni and installed street lighting on several kilometers of roads in Hiliuti, Mihaileni, Duruitoarea Noua, and other localities. We also renovated kindergartens and schools and improved medical infrastructure across the district.”

President Sandu assured that the government will continue modernizing local communities and that future funding will be strengthened with support from the European Union.

“We can achieve even more with European funds,” she concluded. “That’s why we must stay on the European path—the only path that guarantees development, peace, and prosperity.”
