Multiple Members of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, led by Speaker Igor Grosu, participated in hearings organized on the platform of the Moldova-European Union Parliamentary Association Committee. The session brought together not only Members of the European Parliament but also representatives from the European Commission and the European External Action Service.
During the event, Grosu reiterated that the authorities have set their objective as initiating negotiations for Moldova’s accession to the European Union.
“We have carefully followed the evaluation conclusions. Regarding the nine recommendations, progress has been made on three, and we need to make further advances on three others. Of course, the most important recommendation on our agenda is judicial reform. Our progress in other areas will depend on the progress we make and how much we achieve in this dimension,” added Speaker Igor Grosu.
Additionally, the head of the legislature also spoke about the successful conduct of local elections.
“We will continue to invest and empower the Central Electoral Commission, electoral officials, and all those involved in organizing an exemplary electoral process, which is the essence of democracy,” added the President of the Parliament.
Furthermore, in his speech, the President of the Parliament expressed gratitude to European partners for the support provided to the Republic of Moldova, including the financial aid offered to manage the crises we face, such as the consequences of the war in Ukraine and the energy blackmail initiated by the Russian Federation.
