Individuals from the Republic of Moldova were transferred from abroad, through licensed banks, for USD 437.20 million, an increase of 17.3 percent compared to the first quarter of 2022, of which through the systems of remittances – USD 343.26 million, according to data from the National Bank of Moldova.
From the point of view of the geographical origin of transfers in favor of natural persons, those from EU countries increased by 16.3 percent compared to the first quarter of 2022 and registered a weight of 52.5 percent. Transfers from the CIS countries increased by 120.8 percent compared to the first quarter of 2022, returning a weight of 15.6 percent. Transfers from other countries constituted 31.9 percent of the total transfers in favor of natural persons, decreasing by 3.6 percent compared to the first quarter of 2022.
The analysis of transfers by country reflects the maintenance of a constant top according to the value of entries, the leader being Israel, followed by Russia, Italy, Germany, and France. The biggest increase is in Russia (+2.4 times, which, however, in the first quarter of 2023 shows a sharp decrease compared to the average of the last nine months, followed by Italy (+24.5 percent), France (+23, 7 percent), Romania (+20.6 percent) and Germany (+13.6 percent), all growing steadily over the last years.
