Romania announced during the NATO summit in Vilnius that it will allocate a new financial contribution to the voluntary fund of the North Atlantic Alliance created for the Republic of Moldova President, Klaus Iohannis, said, writes Calea Europeană.
“During the summit, we reaffirmed the need for NATO’s consolidated support for vulnerable partners, especially the Republic of Moldova. In this sense, I advocated financial support for measures intended for the Republic of Moldova to strengthen its defense capability and increase resilience. We also announced a new financial contribution for Chisinau, which we will transfer to the NATO Voluntary Fund intended for this state. These decisions taken at the summit demonstrate the results of Romania’s requests to strengthen NATO’s support for strengthening the resilience, security, and defense of the Republic of Moldova,” said the head of the neighboring state.

For the second time in the history of the North Atlantic Alliance, the leaders of the NATO member countries adopted the final declaration of the summit in Vilnius, in which the Republic of Moldova is given for a separate paragraph, as a sign of the particular attitude of the North Atlantic Alliance towards our country, as a partner vulnerable to Russian threats and the consequences of the Russian war against Ukraine.
Thus, NATO leaders firmly support “Moldova’s right to independently determine its future and its foreign policy course without outside interference,” confirming that they fully respect Moldova’s constitutional neutrality.
