Cross-Border Aqueduct Links Moldova and Romania for Clean Water Access

The river Prut crossing point at Măcărești – Măcărești was inaugurated on September 4th. Thanks to this project, the kindergarten in the village of Măcărești and over 350 households are now receiving drinking water delivered by the ApăVital Iași company.

According to the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Andrei Spînu, a second river crossing point is planned to connect Sculeni-Sculeni. Simultaneously, as part of a regional development project, an aqueduct is being built to interconnect the Prut River and the village of Măcărești with 13 localities in Nisporeni and Ungheni. This interconnection will provide access to drinking water for the citizens of the Ungheni district, including the localities of Măcărești, Frăsinești, Costuleni, Boldurești, Chilișoaia, Băcșeni, Brătuleni, Cîrnești, Valea-Trestieni, Isăicani, Luminița, Selișteni, and Odobești.

“This is just the first step. We aim to interconnect localities from 5 districts with quality water: Hâncești, Nisporeni, Ungheni, Fălești, and Glodeni,” wrote Andrei Spînu on his Telegram channel.
