President Maia Sandu’s Discussion with ENEMO on Ensuring Transparent and Fair Elections in Moldova

President Maia Sandu had a meeting on Wednesday with a delegation from the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO), which is on its sixth election monitoring mission in the Republic of Moldova. The discussions focused on ensuring a transparent, free, and fair election, particularly in the context of the local elections scheduled for November 5, as reported by the Presidential institution.

The head of state mentioned that electoral legislation has been improved, taking into account the recommendations of the EU Commission. Additionally, President Sandu addressed the risk of foreign interference in the local elections, illegal campaign financing issues, and attempts to corrupt candidates and voters. Maia Sandu urged the observers to pay close attention to these actions, which aim to compromise free and fair elections.

It’s worth noting that general local elections are scheduled to take place in the Republic of Moldova on November 5, with over 60,000 candidates registered for this election.
