The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine have signed a Memorandum. The document was signed by the head of the legislative body in Chișinău, Igor Grosu, and his Ukrainian counterpart, Ruslan Stefanchuk, during the second Parliamentary Summit of the International Platform Crimea, held in the Czech Republic.
The Memorandum of Understanding aims to strengthen bilateral parliamentary relations, particularly in the context where both the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine share the goal of European integration, having acquired the status of candidate countries for European Union membership.
Thus, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine have agreed to enhance their cooperation to establish a common framework for supporting parliamentary processes and procedures. According to the Memorandum, the collaboration between the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will cover various aspects. These include the promotion and support of democratic values, fundamental rights and freedoms, regional stability, and security; the improvement of legislative process standards to facilitate the effective integration agenda with the EU and intensified cooperation with NATO. Furthermore, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will strengthen their efforts to more effectively manage potential crises and promote common interests to bring them closer to the European Union.

The parliamentary institutions in Chișinău and Kyiv will work to enhance their institutional capacities to increase transparency in their activities and provide analytical and research support in the legislative process. In the context of strengthened inter-parliamentary cooperation, reciprocal visits at the leadership level of the parliaments, joint meetings of parliamentary committees and friendship groups, study visits, exchange of best practices, training, parliamentary conferences, and more will be organized. These actions will encompass both the body of deputies and public servants.
It is worth noting that during these days, the head of the legislative body, Igor Grosu, is in Prague, where he is participating in the Parliamentary Summit of the International Platform Crimea.
