The separatists in Tiraspol want a peacekeeping mission on the right bank of the Dniester. The request was sent to the Unified Control Commission (CUC), with the pretext being the protection of the Dubasari power plant.
“On the left bank of the Dniester, we have a post. In 2006, the decision was taken, but the mission was not established for objective and subjective reasons. We understand that the post would be welcome to avoid unauthorised access to the Dubasari plant,” said Tiraspol representative Oleg Beleakov.
In the press release issued by the Reintegration Policy Office following the CUC meeting, it was stated by those in authority that the meeting had discussed the illegal posts set up by Tiraspol in the area of responsibility of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces.

“The Moldovan delegation reiterated its position that the Joint Peacekeeping Forces do not require additional structures to ensure peace in the Security Zone. It also argued that the posts in question are de jure abusive and called for their abrogation. Tiraspol representatives in the Commission opposed a decision on the issue,” communicates the Reintegration Policy Office.
