A group of 21 people residing in the capital swore the oath on Monday, June 3, to grant or regain citizenship of the Republic of Moldova, Chisinau City Hall representatives announced. The event took place at Chisinau City Hall in the presence of Deputy Mayor Angela Cutasevici and representatives of the local public administration.
According to the press release issued by the municipality, the persons who obtained Moldovan citizenship are from Ukraine, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republic of Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Syrian Arab Republic, the Republic of Turkey, the Republic of Cameroon and the Republic of Sudan. At the same time, four other persons re-obtained the citizenship of our state.
“After taking the oath of allegiance to the Republic of Moldova, Angela Cutasevici congratulated those present. The Deputy Mayor encouraged the new citizens to be active, to respect the state laws, and to contribute, together with the whole community, to the development and prosperity of the republic and the municipality of Chisinau. At the same time, the municipal official wished them achievements commensurate with their aspirations and efforts, noting that the personal success of each is the collective community success,” reads the press release issued by Chisinau City Hall.

According to the legislation in force, to obtain or regain citizenship of the Republic of Moldova, applicants must pass an exam on knowledge of the language and history of the state, as well as national legislation.
A special government commission examines the file, after which the President of the Republic of Moldova issues a decree. Applicants are then sworn in by the Mayor General of the municipality or by the District President.
