Experts from North Macedonia are currently training hundreds of Moldovan civil servants involved in the European integration process

From June 18-19, the Secretariat for European Affairs team from Skopje, North Macedonia, is training over 300 civil servants from the Republic of Moldova involved in the European integration process.

This workshop focuses on exchanging experiences and sharing best practices in the negotiation process. Also, the participants have the opportunity to analyze the coordination mechanism of the process of accession to the European Union and the structure of the team of negotiators of the Government of North Macedonia, as well as the achievements and the challenges encountered in the process of alignment with the acquis communautaire.

On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov, came with a message.

“I thank my colleagues in Skopje for accepting the invitation issued during my visit to North Macedonia in the spring. Their expertise is valuable for us in the preparation process for the bilateral screening stage”, she declared.

We remind you that the Republic of Moldova applied for accession to the European Union on March 3, 2022, the same day as Georgia and three days after Ukraine.

The European Commission officially recommended to the European Council that the Republic of Moldova be granted a European perspective and candidate status for accession to the European Union, with a series of conditions regarding the start of accession negotiations on June 17, 2022. The Council granted Moldova the status of a candidate country for accession on June 23.

The European Union member states opened EU accession negotiations for Moldova and Ukraine on December 14, 2023.
