The Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Vladimir Bolea, met today, September 27, with the UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Moldova, Yeşim Oruç. During the meeting, the officials discussed the support provided by UN agencies to farmers in Moldova, the substantial challenges facing the agricultural sector, and the damages caused by the 2024 drought.

“During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea emphasized the need for increased support for farmers affected by the drought, highlighting the devastating impact of this situation on agricultural production. He reiterated the importance of external assistance, addressing Ms. Yeşim Oruç to explore the possibility of additional support from UN agencies, particularly through initiatives to assist affected farmers and contribute to the Mutual Compensation Fund for Losses,” reads the statement issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA).
