Romanian War Correspondent Alex Craiu Banned From Transnistria for Three Years

Romanian journalist Alex Craiu has been banned from entering the Transnistrian region for three years. The journalist received an official document dated May 2025 informing him that he had been declared persona non grata in the self-proclaimed region of Moldova.

Craiu is a Romanian war correspondent currently based temporarily in Kyiv. He says he reports from Ukraine, documenting conditions on the ground and covering developments there. His social media accounts have between 27,000 and 164,000 followers, depending on the platform.

“Yesterday, I tried to cross the checkpoint and, unlike others who have been banned from entering Transnistria, I was actually issued an official decision informing me that I am banned for three years. The decision came after I published an article in the Veridica publication about the situation in Tiraspol,” the journalist told Realitatea.

The Bureau for Reintegration Policies has not yet commented on the case. Realitatea’s editorial team has requested a response from the authorities regarding the incident.
