The Republic of Moldova returns home with gold from the largest World Robotics Olympiad for high school students. It marks the fourth consecutive time they have achieved this. The competition took place from September 26 to 29 in Athens and was aimed at students aged 15 to 18, bringing together 193 countries worldwide.
The Republic of Moldova’s team won the title of double champion at the Olympiad. They first earned a gold medal for the Winning Alliance at FIRST Global, awarded to the four teams that won in the finals, including teams from China, Madagascar, and the Cook Islands. They also received a second gold medal in the Engineering Innovation category. The Ustad Ahmad Lahori Award recognizes teams that show creativity in building their robots to meet specific competition criteria, highlighting unique and innovative designs.
The FIRST Global Challenge Robotics Olympiad promotes STEM education and encourages intercultural collaboration, helping students develop technical skills while emphasizing teamwork values.

“Congratulations to the national robotics team for this extraordinary achievement, and thank you for making us feel pride once again! The Ministry of Education and Research will support the development of technological skills and creativity among students in the Republic of Moldova by providing learning and professional growth opportunities comparable to those in other countries,” stated the Minister of Education and Research, Dan Perciun.
The success of the Republic of Moldova was made possible by the involvement of an extensive team of 12 students (representing teams from Tekwill Academy Kids and LLMTI “Socrate”) and three mentors. The first five students are part of the official team.
