Strengthening Moldovan-Spanish Relations: Key Achievements and Future Prospects

On October 15, at Chisinau, Carolina Perebinos, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with José Antonio Hernández Pérez-Solórzano, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to the Republic of Moldova, who resides in Bucharest.

The officials reviewed the essential achievements in Moldovan-Spanish relations, highlighting the consistency of political dialogue between the two countries and the deepening of cooperation in internal affairs, defense, agriculture, and education. They also explored prospects for expanding collaboration in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

Both parties welcomed the strengthening of the legal framework governing bilateral relations, noting the entry into force this year of the Agreement on Social Protection and the Agreement on Mutual Recognition and Conversion of National Driving Licenses.

During the meeting, State Secretary Carolina Perebinos expressed gratitude for Spain’s continuous support for Moldova’s European path, emphasizing that the decision to launch accession negotiations in December 2023 occurred during Spain’s Presidency of the EU Council.

The agenda of discussions between the two officials also included topics related to the internal situation in the Republic of Moldova and the latest developments in regional security.
