Presidential candidates with less than 1%. Who are the four candidates and what scores did they achieve?

They received less than 1% of the votes from the citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the presidential elections held on October 20, 2024. We are talking about Octavian Ticu, Andrei Nastase, Natalia Morari, and Tudor Ulianovschi.

1. Octavian Ticu, supported in this electoral campaign by the “Impreuna” Bloc, received 0.93% of the votes. Ticu is a historian and a professional boxer. He served as Minister of Youth and Sports in the Filat Government. In February 2019, he became a deputy in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova on the “ACUM” Bloc’s list. He also ran in the local elections in Chisinau in 2019, where he garnered only 5%. In this year’s presidential elections, he was supported by the “Impreuna” Bloc, which consists of three pro-European parties.
2. Andrei Nastase, an independent candidate in the elections on October 20, accumulated 0.64%. Nastase entered politics in 2015 when he participated in the founding of the Civic Platform for Dignity and Truth. He ran in the 2018 elections for the position of mayor of Chisinau and defeated the incumbent mayor, Ion Ceban. However, on June 19, 2018, the elections were declared null due to both candidates violating the electoral silence on election day, contrary to the provisions of the Electoral Code. In 2022, the party expelled the politician from the “DA” Platform, which he had founded.
3. Natalia Morari, an independent candidate in the presidential elections, achieved 0.62%. The former television journalist left TV8 amid controversy after news broke about her relationship with businessman Veaceslav Platon. She announced her intention to run for office in the spring of this year. Indirectly, she stated that she wants to establish a party and has political plans for the parliamentary elections in 2025.
4. Tudor Ulianovschi, an independent candidate in the presidential elections on October 20, accumulated 0.52% of the votes. Ulianovschi is a professional diplomat. He served as the Permanent Representative of Moldova to the United Nations Office and the World Trade Organization and as ambassador to the Swiss Confederation and the Principality of Liechtenstein, residing in Geneva during Filip’s government. In August, the diplomat officially announced that he would enter the race and would not join any party for this purpose.

We remind you that 11 candidates entered the electoral race for the presidential elections on October 20, 2024. After processing approximately 99% of the ballots, Maia Sandu, the candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) will compete in the second round of the presidential elections against Alexandr Stoianoglo, the candidate of the Socialist Party (PSRM). According to preliminary results, Sandu accumulated 42.18% of the votes, while Stoianoglo received 26.17%.
