(VIDEO) Caraman: The CEC has not received any complaint about the discriminatory messages against Stoianoglo

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has not received any complaints about discriminatory messages targeting Alexandr Stoianoglo. The head of the CEC, Angela Caraman, made the statement.

“The Central Electoral Commission has not received any complaints on this matter, and when we receive the documents, we will analyze them and decide on them,” Caraman said, being asked by journalists if there would be any decision on the incident.

Videos and postings with xenophobic messages appeared on the pages of people with tens of thousands of followers on Facebook and TikTok. As a result, the team of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) urged citizens to remain calm, noting that it would condemn any xenophobic attacks instigating inter-ethnic hatred.

“PAS strongly condemns any xenophobic attacks, incitement to inter-ethnic hatred. The campaign needs to be conducted exclusively on criteria aimed at the competence, integrity, and candidate’s character. Our position was and remains one of unity among all citizens. We are all a part of the Republic of Moldova and want to live in peace and good understanding,” reads the PAS reaction.

Meanwhile, Ion Chicu has filed a complaint with the General Prosecutor’s Office. At the same time, the “Farmers’ Force” Association noted on social networks that it had addressed the law enforcement institutions of the Republic of Moldova following the xenophobic messages published on TikTok and Facebook, noting that it had previously been subjected to similar attacks.
