The year 2024 marked a historic milestone for Moldova as the European Union opened its doors wider, and the National Bank of Moldova (BNM) took an active role in the accession process. As reported by IPN, BNM Governor Anca Dragu highlighted this in her end-of-year message.
“Through continuous dialogue and strategic reforms, we have strengthened ties with external partners, consolidating Moldova’s position on the global stage,” stated Anca Dragu.
According to the governor, Chisinau became a genuine international financial center in 2024, hosting top leaders during the IMF and World Bank Constituency meeting.
“This event demonstrated that Moldova is ready to join the European family and embrace its core values—peace, solidarity, and human dignity,” Dragu emphasized.

At the same time, Moldova’s integration into SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) continues to advance steadily. The year 2024 witnessed remarkable progress in digitalization and financial infrastructure, directly benefiting citizens.
“These achievements are complemented by the BNM’s actions to maintain currency stability and manage inflation. Beyond the numbers, these measures reflect a commitment to strengthening confidence in the national economy,” Anca Dragu added.
The BNM governor encouraged Moldovans to approach the coming year with optimism and determination to continue building a nation they can be proud of.
