The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, Urška Klakočar Zupančič, will visit Moldova from January 22 to 24. This visit marks the first time a speaker of the Slovenian Parliament has traveled to Moldova in the 32 years since the establishment of Moldovan-Slovenian diplomatic relations.
The Parliament’s communication and public relations department announced that Slovenian officials would meet with President Maia Sandu and Speaker Igor Grosu. Following the meetings, they will hold a joint press conference.
The discussions will focus on Moldova’s European integration path, opportunities to strengthen Moldovan-Slovenian relations, inter-parliamentary cooperation, justice reform, and the regional impact of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
The Slovenian delegation includes members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group between Slovenia and Moldova, led by Miha Lamut and Uršula Zore Tavčar, Secretary General of the National Assembly.

Urška Klakočar Zupančič will also engage with members of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and European Integration, chaired by MP Ina Coșeru, and representatives of the Women’s Parliamentary Platform, led by Deputy Speaker Doina Gherman. The agenda includes meetings with Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihail Popșoi and a session between the Secretaries General of the two parliaments, Igor Talmazan and Uršula Zore Tavčar.
Speaker Grosu extended the invitation for this visit. Moldova and Slovenia established diplomatic relations on October 27, 1993.
