Veronica Dragalin opposes merging the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS), as proposed by Minister Veronica Mihailov-Moraru. In response to Realitatea.md, PA officials stated that the Justice Ministry’s initiative, announced on Prosecutors’ Professional Day, “does not meet the current requirements and challenges in the fight against corruption and organized crime.”
In its message to our editorial office, the institution stated, “We emphasize that the minister’s speech failed to provide plausible or convincing arguments to justify the necessity of such a merger. ”
The PA also noted detailed arguments on the impediments, challenges, and proposed solutions for combating electoral corruption in the letter Prosecutor General Ion Munteanu sent on January 24. In this document, the PA outlined his position on the merger.

According to authorities, this move aims to strengthen the system. The minister stated that parliament will make the final decision, but the proposal will be submitted for consideration. Lawmakers will finalize the amendment by fall.
The minister said the future positions of Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office head Veronica Dragalin and PCCOCS head Victor Furtuna after the merger remain under discussion.
