The government will compensate electricity costs for all Moldovan households until December 2025, using funds from the European Union’s support package. Each household will pay for the first 110 kWh of electricity at the pre-crisis tariff.
The government will allocate 151 million euros from the 250-million-euro medium-term aid package to cover these subsidies.
“We will compensate electricity costs for the entire population of the Republic of Moldova until December. Each family will pay for the first 110 kWh at the tariff that was in place before energy prices increased. This aid will total 151 million euros,” announced Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu confirmed that all families in Moldova will receive this compensation without exception.
“With EU support, the Moldovan government will compensate electricity costs for all families in the country, with no exceptions, until December. Each household will pay for the first 110 kWh at the pre-crisis tariff,” Buzu wrote.
Today, the European Union announced a new support package to help Moldova manage the energy crisis. It includes 30 million euros in emergency aid (already allocated), 250 million euros in medium-term aid for the population, and a proposed 60 million euros for the Transnistrian region.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean and European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, who is visiting Moldova, signed a letter of intent in Chișinău. The agreement outlines a comprehensive package to strengthen Moldova’s energy resilience and independence.
