Transnistria to Continue Receiving Gas via Mysterious Schemes from Dubai and Hungary After March 1

The separatist leader, Vadim Krasnoselski, announced that gas deliveries to Transnistria would continue under the exact mechanism beyond March 1.

Currently, the region faces a gas shortage. It requires 3.27 million cubic meters but receives only 3 million cubic meters.

The so-called Minister of Economy in Tiraspol, Sergey Obolonic, explained that they cover the deficit with “gas borrowed from neighbors.”

Vadim Cheban, the interim head of Moldovagaz, only stated that Moldovagaz and “Tiraspoltransgaz” signed a loan agreement for 6 million cubic meters. The system accounts for the additional volume within its balancing framework.

Alexandr Slusari, a member of Energocom’s board, recently stated that the gas supply scheme to Transnistria via Dubai, Hungary, and Moldovagaz will remain in place after March 1. He added that authorities are concealing the details of these transactions, including payment sources and delivery routes.

“In March, deliveries to the region will reach 3-3.2 million cubic meters per day, and the industry will be able to resume operations at preferential rates as soon as temperatures rise,” Slusari noted.

Since February 14, Transnistria has received gas through the following scheme: the Hungarian company MET Gas and Energy Marketing AG delivers gas to Moldova’s border. A Dubai-based offshore company pays for the gas, and at the border, Moldovagaz takes over and sends it to Tiraspol based on an advance payment.
