Parliament appointed Alexei Taran as the General Director of the Board of the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE). Fifty-seven members of Parliament supported the draft decision approving his appointment.
According to the document, he will serve as General Director until the end of his mandate as a member of ANRE’s Board.
Taran has been part of ANRE’s Board since March 2022. He graduated from the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies and has extensive experience in the private sector, having worked for companies in Moldova and Romania.

His appointment follows the expiration of Veaceslav Untila’s mandate as ANRE’s General Director.
Under current legislation, ANRE’s Board consists of five directors, selected through a competition and appointed by Parliament. The General Director is chosen from among them based on their experience in ANRE-regulated sectors and leadership roles upon the proposal of the Speaker of Parliament.
