Official! New Minister of Economy, Doina Nistor, has taken the oath of office

The designated Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, Doina Nistor, has taken the oath of office. The ceremony happened this morning, March 14, at the Presidency, in the presence of Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

“I pledge to dedicate all my strength and skills to the prosperity of the Republic of Moldova, to uphold the Constitution and the country’s laws, to defend democracy, fundamental human rights and freedoms, as well as Moldova’s sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity,” declared Doina Nistor.

According to the Prime Minister, Doina Nistor has over 20 years of experience in economic development and digital transformation. She holds a PhD in Economics and Management from the Technical University of Moldova and advanced studies in Leadership and Management from Arizona State University. She has led significant projects funded by the U.S., Swedish, and British governments, significantly impacting the competitiveness and digitalization of key sectors, including information technology and communications, tourism, winemaking, light industry, engineering, cybersecurity, and creative industries.

As a project director for the past 15 years, she has overseen large teams of experts and managed budgets exceeding 100 million euros, focusing on attracting investments, supporting entrepreneurship, and implementing innovative digital solutions. She has contributed to national policies and strategies on digitalization, e-commerce, and sectoral development. She is an active member of key institutional councils, including the Investment Agency, Moldova Innovation Technology Park, the Institutional Strategic Development Council of UTM, the National Institute for Education and Leadership, USAID, and the East European Foundation.

The government also highlights Doina Nistor’s commitment to transforming Moldova into a competitive, innovative digital economy. She played a key role in developing the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem by establishing 11 university innovation centers through public-private partnerships, including Tekwill, Clasa Viitorului, Artcor, Mediacor, Nortek, Glia Impact Hub, and the National Institute for Innovation in Cybersecurity, Cybercor.

 

Dumitru Alaiba announced his resignation on Thursday, March 13. He had been in office since November 2022.
