“Place under the Sun” – The Moldovan Film That Won the Grand Prize at the First MUSIAD Altin Cark International Film Festival

The Moldovan short film “Place Under the Sun”, directed by Vlad Bolgarin, won the Grand Prize – The Golden Wheel – at the first edition of the MUSIAD Altin Cark International Film Festival, held in Istanbul.

The jury selected the film out of more than 200 productions from around the world, praising the depth and authenticity of its story.

The film follows a talented pianist and his eight-year-old son, who try to make a living by selling vegetables at Moldova’s largest market in the early 2000s. When the father begins to lose hope under the weight of hardship, a simple gesture from the child reignites his faith in a better future, as cited by Klumea media agency.

Vlad Bolgarin is a director, screenwriter, and founder of VOLT Cinematography. A graduate of the Academy of Music, Theatre, and Fine Arts in Chisinau, he has already gained recognition with the short film “Sigh” and the series “Lost in Moldova”. He is currently working on his first feature film.

The Istanbul Award confirms Moldovan’s cinema potential and power to move international audiences through authentic, refined, and emotionally resonant storytelling.
