The Crisis deepens? Economic state of emergency extended for another 30 days in the left bank of the Dniester

The so-called supreme Soviet of the separatist region extended the state of emergency in the economy on the left bank of the Dniester for another 30 days following Vadim Krasnoselski’s request.

Local authorities revised the budget again, redirecting unused local funds from last year to cover public sector wages.

In April, the Tiraspol administration took a similar measure, reallocating funds left unspent by local governments.

The region’s industry remains stagnant after Russia cut gas deliveries to Transnistria. Since declaring a state of economic emergency and facing a gas shortage, Tiraspol has stopped selling cheap electricity to Chisinau, which created a budget gap.

After the heating season ended, some of the gas supplied to the region by the Hungarian group MET — paid through a Dubai-based company — can be redirected to industry.

However, several sources say the volume isn’t enough to fully restart local factories.

Moscow previously acknowledged that the left bank of the Dniester was surviving thanks to Gazprom’s deliveries.
