Simplified border crossing process at the Cosauti-Iampol Moldovan-Ukrainian checkpoint

The authorities will simplify the border crossing process for residents living in the border districts between Moldova and Ukraine. They will establish the Cosauti–Iampol crossing point, which will open for international road traffic, reports IPN.

To simplify the crossing procedure, the governments of Moldova and Ukraine will start negotiations and sign a protocol. Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin proposed the draft law for this initiative, and the Government approved it in a meeting.

The new crossing point will promote cooperation between Ukraine and Moldova, reduce waiting times at the border for citizens and businesses, and strengthen bilateral economic relations.

The amendment protocol aims to create the necessary bilateral international legal framework to establish the crossing point.

The two countries signed the Moldova-Ukraine agreement on state border crossing points on March 11, 1997. The new document will come into force upon its publication in the Official Gazette.
