The Cabinet of Ministers has approved amendments to the 2025 state budget, allocating 300 million lei to provide a school aid of 1,000 lei for every student in grades I to IX. Authorities will distribute the aid in early September to help families prepare for the new academic year.
“We support the school preparation process,” officials stated. It is a very important project, through which 295,000 children enrolled for the 2025–2026 school year will receive 1,000 lei each,” stated Prime Minister Dorin Recean. “Earlier this year, we extended Easter support to over 230,000 children under five years. Since 2021, we have doubled the support granted to families in Moldova—from 2.8 billion lei to 4.8 billion lei this year.”
The revised budget also includes:
- 50 million lei to support the reorganization of Moldovan Railways and provide social support for the company’s employees.

- 50 million lei for the Government’s Intervention Fund to help address the effects of potential emergencies.
- Redistributed funds for urgent needs across key areas, including school cafeteria renovation and modernization.
These allocations follow a reassessment of state budget revenues and a redistribution of expenditures to better reflect national priorities.
