Germany Grants €5.5 Million to Support Key Development Projects in Moldova

The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany has pledged €5.512 million in non-reimbursable financial assistance to the Republic of Moldova, marking a renewed commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and supporting Moldova’s European integration efforts.

Members of Moldova’s Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and European Integration approved a consultative opinion enabling the start of negotiations and the signing of a bilateral treaty to formalize the funding.

Germany will provide the funds through its International Cooperation Agency (GIZ), directing them toward three strategic projects:

  • €1 million for the “Support for EU Integration” project, which aims to bolster the capacity of Moldova’s key institutions involved in aligning with EU standards;
  • €1.5 million for the “Info Trust Alliance Moldova” initiative, focused on increasing societal resilience against disinformation;
  • Over €3 million for the “Support in Mitigating the Impact of War on Water Supply and Sanitation” in Moldova’s border region with Ukraine.

“This assistance reflects a strategic partnership and shared values. Germany continues to invest in Moldova’s democratic resilience and infrastructure development,” officials stated in a press release following the committee’s vote.
