Moldova and the OSCE Discuss New Steps Toward Transnistrian Settlement

On July 8, 2025, Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Oleg Serebrian, met with Ambassador Thomas Lenk, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian settlement process. The working meeting focused on the current state of negotiations, reintegration priorities, and key agenda issues as Moldova continues to build trust between both banks of the Dniester River.

Officials emphasized the urgency of restoring free movement in the Transnistrian region and ensuring unhindered access for journalists from the right bank. They also stressed the need to provide adequate facilities for Romanian-language schools and to eliminate persistent obstacles faced by farmers in the Dubasari District.

Serebrian underscored that applying harmonized EU standards across Moldova’s territory will help reestablish unified national spaces and integrate the Transnistrian region into the country’s European trajectory. He emphasized that the European Union and Moldova’s development partners are becoming increasingly important in supporting these reintegration and trust-building efforts.
