President Dan reiterated that Romania would respect the will of Moldovan citizens regarding their country’s future. While he supports the idea of unification, he emphasized that no unilateral steps would be taken.

“I wish for unification with Moldova, but I fully respect the will of the people in our neighboring country,” he said.

According to Dan, support for unification in Moldova stands at approximately 35%, which is why Romania will continue to focus on cooperation and tangible assistance.

His comments come as Moldova navigates complex challenges related to security and European integration. Romania has consistently acted as one of Chisinau’s most active supporters, both bilaterally and within European institutions.

In the same interview, President Dan also reaffirmed Romania’s strategic partnership with the United States and its firm commitment to NATO, dismissing claims of foreign influence over Romanian domestic affairs.
