Moldova to Join Creative Europe Program Starting January 2026

The European Commission approved Moldova’s participation in the Creative Europe program, effective January 1, 2026. It authorized the signing and provisional application of the agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova, reports IPN. They plan to sign the agreement on September 2, 2025, and will apply it provisionally right after.

“This decision will enable Moldovan organizations to collaborate with their EU partners on cultural projects that promote cross-border cooperation, artistic mobility, and cultural diversity,” said European Parliament member Dan Barna.

The Creative Europe program aims to strengthen the resilience of Europe’s cultural and creative sectors by supporting thousands of projects and professionals across the continent, according to the European Commission.

Recently, Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan clarified for IPN that Moldova has not withdrawn from the Creative Europe program, addressing some public misunderstandings. Although the protocol requires a financial contribution, “considering Moldova’s situation and the importance of joining the program, and with the European Union’s support, Moldova will not be required to make a financial contribution for the remaining two years of the program,” Minister Prodan confirmed.
