The Eugen Doga Chisinau International Airport will undergo expansion and modernization through a development project worth over 700 million lei, fully funded by the enterprise’s revenues. Airport leadership, the Public Property Agency (PPA), and the Organization for Territorial Planning, Urbanism, Construction and Housing (OTPUCH) officially presented the project during a public conference.
The airport will begin construction this year, immediately after selecting the construction company through a public tender. Authorities expect to complete the project by the end of 2026.
The plan includes reorganizing check-in and baggage areas, expanding the departures zone, and introducing advanced technologies such as FAST TRACK for swift access, ABC gates for automated passport control, and self-service systems for baggage handling.

Officials will also expand the waiting areas and business lounge, while passengers will benefit from new amenities like a covered terrace and shower cabins.
“We designed this project not just to gain extra space, but to optimize passenger flow by integrating modern technologies for a faster and more efficient travel experience,” explained Nicolae Lupusor, director of OTPUCH.
According to airport administration, revenues rose sharply—from 2.6 million lei in 2022 to 211 million lei in 2023, and 337 million lei in 2024.
