On 28 September, citizens of the Republic of Moldova will head to the polls to elect their representatives to Parliament — the country’s only legislative and supreme representative body.
In this article, the Realitatea.md editorial team explains six steps to help you exercise your right to vote.
STEP 1. Present your ID to the computer operator.
The operator enters your identification information into the system. The system verifies whether you meet the legal conditions for voting and confirms your inclusion in the basic voter list for that polling station. It also alerts the operator if you have already voted at another station during these elections.
STEP 2. Go to the table where the electoral bureau members sit.
Present your ID to a bureau member, and they will locate your name on the voter list.
STEP 3. Sign your ballot.
After you receive your ballot, sign next to your name in the electoral list or apply a simple electronic signature.

STEP 4. Vote in privacy.
Enter the voting booth and cast your vote in secret. If you cannot vote alone for valid reasons, choose a companion you trust to assist you in the booth. Your companion cannot be a member of the electoral bureau, an observer, or a representative of a candidate.
STEP 5. Mark your choice correctly.
Stamp “Voted” inside the circle in the rectangle with the name or designation of your chosen candidate. Keep the circles in all other rectangles clean.
If you mark your ballot incorrectly but have not placed it in the box, request a new one — but only once. Election officials will record this in the vote count minutes and note it in the “Note” section of the voter list.
Do not stay in the booth with family members, vote on someone else’s behalf, photograph or film your ballot, show it to others, or remove it from the polling station.
STEP 6. Cast your ballot.
Fold your ballot and place it in the ballot box.
Important: The election is considered valid only if at least one-third of the registered voters participate.
